Defend Oregon's 2008 Voter Guide
This November, Oregonians will vote on several ballot measures sponsored by Bill Sizemore and Kevin Mannix. These measures deal with different topics, but they have one thing in common: they target working Oregonians.
These measures are directed at regular Oregonians and frontline public workers like teachers, firefighters, and nurses by forcing cuts in education, healthcare, senior services, and other critical programs.
Because the measures are so vague, poorly written, and filled with unintended consequences, what they would actually do to Oregon is largely unclear—what is clear, though, is that they’ll have a negative impact on all Oregonians.
Most of these measures were written and sponsored by Bill Sizemore, who has turned Oregon’s initiative system into a for-profit venture for himself. He makes his money by getting wealthy, out-of-state, ultra-conservatives to pay him to place measures on the ballot.
The initiative system should be for all Oregonians, not just Bill Sizemore and his out-of-state funders.
